Oh and Ah title debate still rages eternal.
Personally, I think Oh is the more clever localization, but… I am an advocate for fidelity in translation where possible, so…

Where To Start The Ah! My Goddess Manga After The Anime?
TL;DR – None of the anime are a very good adaptation of the manga, and you would be best off starting from Chapter 1.
There are actually more Ah! My Goddess anime projects than you might expect, so let’s just go down the line with how they relate to the manga, shall we?
Ah! My Goddess OVA (1993)
The original Ah! My Goddess OVA (1993) only loosely adapts the manga in its first episode. The other four episodes have the occasional inspiration from the manga, but are largely anime-original.
Ah! My Goddess Movie (2000)
The Ah! My Goddess Movie (2000) is also an anime-original story, but is also technically a sequel to the events of the anime-original 1993 OVAs.
The Adventures of Mini-Goddess
The Adventures of Mini-Goddess anime is just a comedy spin-off using the characters. It is based on a single-volume 4-koma compilation manga, but I couldn’t find it online to see how much the anime and manga matched up.
Ah! My Goddess TV Anime (2007)
Finally, we have the TV anime and it’s several OVAs, which do adapt the manga.
- If you finished the Ah! My Goddess Season 1 anime – You can start the manga at Volume 6, Chapter 40. (Episode 25 and Episode 26, AKA the special bonus episodes, were side stories from the manga)
- If you finished the Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy Season 2 – You can start the manga at Volume 13, Chapter 73. (Most everything after Episode 10 was anime-original)
- If you finished the Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings OVA – These OVAs adapt a specific chunk of chapters. It adapts Chapter 155 through Chapter 166.
- If you finished the Ah! My Goddess: Together Forever OVA – These were anime-original stories.
What to Expect From The Ah! My Goddess Manga?
Ah! My Goddess may have made a fine anime, but it was not a very good adaptation of the manga in any anime for. Even the TV anime, which adapts the manga, highly condenses and abridges the story as well as re-arranges events, changes continuity, and has a fair share of anime-original content.
It’s not hard to jump into the Ah! My Goddess manga after Season 2 if you really want to as both products are fairly episodic, it is just not recommended as you would have missed much of the manga content.
As events and characters tend to be relevant again in later moments of the manga, you really should read the Ah! My Goddess manga from the beginning in order to get the best story experience.
Is The Ah! My Goddess Manga Over?
The Ah! My Goddess manga is complete. It ended in 2014 with Volume 48, Chapter 308.
You can also enjoy the Aa! Shuukatsu no Megami-sama spin-off/sequel manga. It takes place after the manga ends, but it is mostly just a comedy about the crew hitting hard times and job hunting during a recession. It ended in 2021 with Volume 5, Chapter 36.
Will There Be An Ah! My Goddess Season 3?
Ah! My Goddess is a relic from a bygone age, and even in its age it was not treated with much care as an anime adaptation. There probably won’t be more Ah! My Goddess anime projects.
