What to Expect From The A Record of Mortal’s Journey to Immortality Source Material Compared to The Anime?
While the Record of Mortal’s Journey to Immortality donghua is a very faithful adaptation of the novel by donghua standards, it still changes and omits plenty. Most of its cuts come in the form of minor characters and storylines, but it does re-arrange some arcs and condense others do to improve the pacing at points where the novel dragged.
If you do jump in after any of the seasons, due to the fact that some storylines occur concurrently, you may read chapters later in the novels that were adapted to anime previously. The jump in points above are close, but far from perfect.
Please note that the manhua adaptation of the novel is considered the worst way to enjoy this story, as it is a less serious affair and condenses/cuts the story far more than the donghua did. The characters also look quite different. The jump in points for the manhua are even more spotty. I did my best.
