Outside of the unconventional release, the quality of the Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You is pretty good. The anime does jump around the manga with what chapters it adapts and when it does them. The anime also pads moments out, mostly when Sasaki is at work, whereas sometimes those moments in the manga are a simple flashback panel summaries. However, there is nothing skipped that would prevent you from easily jumping into the manga (or also might be adapted later when the anime airs the rest of the way).
