While the Fate series is complicated, convoluted, and sometimes as stupid as laying out that people die when they are killed or archers in the Archer class are really archers, they usually do a pretty good job of bringing its various lore and game content to life in anime and manga.
Of course that tradition continues with the wildly popular Fate/Grand Order gacha mobile game. Unfortunately, as it is an ongoing mobile game with a long, increasingly complicated story to bring all your favorite Fate characters in and turn all your favorite historical people into anime hotties, Grand Order hasn’t exactly done the same solid job of adapting the story to anime that Stay Night did.
There’s really no linear adaptation of the FGO storyline, but we’ll be going over Fate/Grand Order’s anime projects and their manga, and how they relate to the game.
Fate/Grand Order Anime
Unfortunately, you cannot enjoy all of Fate/Grand Order’s game story in the anime. The Fate/Grand Order anime projects are not really meant to bring in new anime fans, but rather are definitely more companion pieces for fans of the mobile game (F/GO is wildly popular in Japan).
Here is how the Fate/Grand Order anime adapts the game:
- First Order adapts the Prologue, Singularity F – Fuyuki
- Both Camelot movies adapt the 6th Singularity
- Babylonia adapts the 7th Singularity.
- Moonlight/Lostroom is a prologue to, not an adaptation of, the game’s 2nd Arc, Cosmos in the Lostbelt.
What does that even mean, the non FGO playing fan might ask. Well, for that, it is best to lay out how the FGO story is told.
Fate/Grand Order’s Game Story Order
The game is structured as such, just to give you a visual indication of just how much the anime doesn’t adapt:
- Arc 1 – Observer on Timeless Temple
- Singularity F – Fuyuki
- First Singularity – Orleans
- Second Singularity – Septem
- Third Singularity – Okeanos
- Fourth Singularity – London
- Fifth Singularity – E Pluribus Unum (America)
- Sixth Singularity – Camelot
- Seventh Singularity – Babylonia
- Final Singularity – Solomon
- Arc 1.5: Epic of Remnant
- Pseudo-Singularity – Shinjuku
- Pseudo-Singularity – Se.Ra.Ph
- Pseudo-Singularity – Agartha
- Pseudo-Singularity – Shimosa
- Pseudo-Singularity – Salem
- Arc 2: Cosmos in the Lostbelt

- Lostbelt No. 2. – Gotterdammerung
- Lostbelt No. 3 – SIN

This is also important for the manga section coming up next, so be sure to reference it as needed.
Fate/Grand Order Manga
If you are interested in Fate/Grand Order and want to enjoy it without playing the mobile game, the manga is actually a decent option for it.
Here is how the Fate/Grand Order manga adapts the game:
- Fate/Grand Order – Mortalis/Stella – Adapts the Prologue Singularity F, First Singularity Orleans, Second Singularity Septem, Fourth Singularity London, Sixth Singularity Camelot
- Fate/Grand Order – Turas Realta – Adapts the Prologue Singularity F, First Singularity Orleans, Third Singularity Okeanos, Fifth Singularity E Pluribus Unum, Seventh Singularity Babylonia, and Final Singularity Solomon
- Fate/Grand Order: Epic of Remnant – Shinjuku – Adapts the ARC 1.5 Pseudo-Singularity of the same name.
- Fate/Grand Order: Epic of Remnant – Se.Ra.Ph – Adapts the ARC 1.5 Pseudo-Singularity of the same name.
- Fate/Grand Order: Epic of Remnant – Agartha – Adapts the ARC 1.5 Pseudo-Singularity of the same name.
- Fate/Grand Order: Epic of Remnant – Shimosa – Adapts the ARC 1.5 Pseudo-Singularity of the same name.
- Fate/Grand Order: Epic of Remnant – Salem – Adapts the ARC 1.5 Pseudo-Singularity of the same name.
The Mortalis:Stella manga and Turas Realta manga together adapt the game’s First Arc. Epic of Remnant manga adapts the Epic of Remnant (Arc 1.5)’s pseudo-singularities, though there are some micro-ones from that arc that have one-shots.
Those are the main manga series (aside from Learn With Manga, which is just a gag series), though you may see other one-shot series that cover smaller game events. There are far too many of those one-shots and no good way to track them all down to list them all, however.
