Where To Start The Golden Boy Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Golden Boy OVAs and want to continue the story in the manga, you can start at Volume 1, Chapter 6.
OVA 6 was fully anime-original. So Chapter 6 is a new story and not the story of Episode 6.
Do note that the Golden Boy manga is split into nine chapters called Lessons, which serve as the prologue. The manga’s proper story starts at, technically, Chapter 10, though the numbering starts over at Chapter 1 again, and the chapters are labeled as Study.
You can also sometimes see the Lessons prologue stories labeled as .X ( Chapter 0.1, Chapter 0.2, Chapter 0.3, ect) with the Study chapters being proper full numbering on unofficial sites.
What to Expect From The Golden Boy Manga?
The Golden Boy OVAs are unique in that most people actually like them much more than the actual manga. After the prologue Lesson chapters, which are episodic horny adventure akin to what the OVA fed you, the Golden Boy manga takes a jarring shift as it enters its Study chapters, the story’s main plotline.
Gone is the light-hearted horny fun, and you are left with an overly dramatic and philosophical story in a way that is starkly different from the prologue chapters/OVAs.
You don’t need to read the manga from the beginning, though. The OVAs covered the misadventures well, though it did make a few small changes.
Is The Golden Boy Manga Over?
The Golden Boy manga is complete. It ended in 1998 with Volume 10, Chapter 104.
There was also a very brief Golden Boy 2 sequel manga. It ended in 2011 with Volume 2, Chapter 16.
Will There Be More Golden Boy Anime?
As the Golden Boy OVAs aired in 1995 and the manga’s actual storyline was not popular, there is virtually no hope for a proper TV anime or more OVAs.
