Where To Start The La Blue Girl Manga After The Anime?

Strictly speaking, the La Blue Girl manga is adapted in full as of Episode 5 of the OVAs (Episode 1 of La Blue Girl New), but it is not adapted well.

In short, the La Blue Girl manga and the La Blue Girl OVAs are quite different. Both work with the same concept of ninjas using sexcraft to fight, but one is a hentai and the other is a action-horror (with tons of sex) manga.

So, the hentai changes the character designs so that the girls are sexier, they change the situations so that sexy sex actually happens and it’s not just torture and fondling, and the demons are sexy instead of horrific.

Interestingly enough, there are moments where the dialogue of the La Blue Girl manga and the the hentai OVAs line up perfectly, but what you read and watch happens on the screen are very different.

So, read the La Blue Girl manga from the beginning and expect more of a “action horror story with sex” sort of experience rather than a “sex story with horror” experience.

For clarity, while the La Blue Girl original OVA are usually lumped into six episodes, they are technically separated into La Blue Girl (4 OVAs) and La Blue Girl New (2 OVAs). The manga’s ending is technically adapted in the first episode of La Blue Girl New and the second episode is anime-original. The sequel OVAs, Lady Blue (AKA La Blue Girl EX) and La Blue Girl Returns, are both anime-original stories.

There are alleged both a US comic adaptation of La Blue Girl, which I could find to read and that allegedly also changes the story, and a novelization of the OVAs, which I couldn’t find, but allegedly really change the story. All of the above is written for Toshio Maeda’s original manga.

Is The La Blue Girl Manga Over?

The La Blue Girl manga is complete. It ended in 1992 with Volume 6, Chapter 48.
