Where To Start The Black Cat Manga After The Anime?

Black Cat is somewhat unique as an anime adaptation of the manga in that it expands upon the story a lot while also still adapting pretty much all of it.

The manga-canon story of Black Cat ends at Episode 20. If you were to start the manga there, you would only have Chapter 185 left to read, the final epilogue chapter. Of course, the anime goes on for four more episodes of anime-original content that expands upon some of the manga’s lore.

That was not the only change from the manga the anime made. The Black Cat anime also starts earlier in the story than where the manga originally starts and does change some events and characters throughout.

So, while Black Cat is mostly a full adaptation of the manga, it is not a diligent adaptation of the manga story and expands upon it a lot.

The anime changed and skipped significant chunks of the story, so you will definitely want to read the manga from the beginning if you have an interest, though you may not necessarily have a better experience with the story since the anime did add things for clarity.

Is The Black Cat Manga Over?

The Black Cat manga is complete. It ended in 2004 with Volume 20, Chapter 185.
