Where To Start The Lord of Mysteries Light Novel After The Anime?
If you finished the Lord of Mysteries anime and want to continue the story in the novel, you can start at Novel 2: Faceless (Web Novel Chapter 215).
Please note that if you were to buy the official translation in physical form, they split up the incredibly long individual novels into multiple parts. So while you can buy the first two novels officially that have been released in English, in reality, it is just the first 2/3rds of the first novel that the anime adapted chopped up into chunks.
Is The Lord of Mysteries Light Novel Over?
The Lord of Mysteries light novel is complete. It ended in 2020 with Novel 8 (Chapter 1394)
It does, however, have a sequel series, Book 2: Circle of Inevitability, which is also complete. Circle of Inevitability ended in 2025 with Novel 8 (Chapter 1179)
Where To Start The Lord of Mysteries Manhua After The Anime?
Lord of Mysteries does have a manhua, but it was canceled after Chapter 65. This would be about Chapter 104 of the first novel’s 214 total chapters.
Lord of Mysteries received a reboot manhua in 2025 to correspond to the premiere of the anime, but it is still very new. The reboot was made to better adapt the novel story (it is a very popular series in China).
What to Expect From The Lord of Mysteries Source Material Compared to The Anime?
All you need to do is go into the Lord of Mysteries anime blind to discover that, like many Chinese donghua, the anime was made as a sort of fan service for fans of the series, and not so much to bring in those new fans.
The animation is great, but it absolutely vomits its world-building and crucial magic system information at you in such a fast way that it can make things hard to grasp and feeling like it is leaving some thing out—which may then be vomited at you at a later info dump.
The novel delivers this world-building to you at a normal, easily digestible pace. If you enjoyed how beautiful the series is and feel like you are missing things—you are. You may wish to read the novel from the beginning to get a better grasp on the world, but if you think you have a firm hold of the world-building, characters, and magic, you can jump in just fine. The anime didn’t leave anything crucial out, it just delivered too much crucial information far too quickly.
Will There Be A Lord of Mysteries Season 2?
Lord of Mysteries has not only been confirmed for Season 2, which is to air sometime in 2027, but it has been confirmed for six seasons and a movie to be released through 2035.
You can find out where to continue Lord of Mysteries after any of those seasons here after the final episode of each season airs.
