What to Expect From The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation Source Material Compared to The Anime?

At many points, it becomes clear that Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is more anime anime for people who were already a fan of the novel and its not so much trying to bring in new ones. In terms of storytelling, the first season leaves out a huge number of details from the novel that would go a long way towards clarity, but it is also one of the best seasons in terms of sticking to and progressing the story as it is presented in the novel.

The second season kind of went off the rails completely as it tried to add in moments from the story that the first season skipped, then had to do some anime-original content to make that work.
