I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire may not have an especially serious story, but they were pretty serious with how well they adapted it. The most major change was rescuing Tia and having her support Liam in the battle with Goaz in the anime. In the light novel and manga, Tia was rescued after that battle.
That changes how things play out later in Tia’s actual first battle, but so long as you are aware that things went differently, you don’t need to read the I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire light novel or manga from the beginning unless you want to.

Thank you for your reviews, since finding this site it has been way easier to catch up with my favorite stories after the anime. Loved this one, i hope it gets a second season, it was about sooo much more than just mechas(which i normally don’t even like), the tragedy, humor, grey topics, worldbuilding and the bad guys where very well written, i’ll be checking out the author’s other work for sure. The presentation as we see the world developing around the main cast was well done, and it didn’t feel rushed. The animation is clearly under a low budget but does the job well enough, while the voice acting and story is fantastic(like Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra). The heavy scenes are HEAVY. All in all a very pleasant find, going into the novels now. Good day/night to anyone reading.
