Where Does The Beyond the Boundary Anime End In The Light Novel?

Still remembered for fighting a demon with the power of idol song-and-dance routines, Beyond the Boundary presented a lovable, unique take on high schoolers fighting demons, but unfortunately was not the most satisfying story one could hope for.

Where To Start The Beyond the Boundary Light Novel After The Anime?

TL;DR – Read the Beyond the Boundary light novels from the beginning, the anime is very different from them.

Given the way the Beyond the Boundary anime wraps things up in the movies, you may be hopeful that there is some nice source material to dig into. Unfortunately, while Beyond the Boundary is based on a light novel, it is also a Kyoto Animation anime.

For those unaware, Kyoto Animation makes lovely-looking enjoyable anime, but are well-known for not adapting the actual source material very faithfully, though their adaptations usually expand on and subjectively improve the story.

Anyway, when the Beyond the Boundary anime project started, they had a single light novel to work with. So the anime works with that single light novel in the anime. The anime omits, expands on, and changes a number of parts from that first novel, so much so that it could not continue adapting the light novel in the subsequent movies that Kyoto Animation made.

You will find that the events in the light novel go much differently than the anime and many characters end up being very different from their anime counterparts.

So if you want more closure from Beyond the Boundary than the anime and its movies gave, you will need to read the light novel from the beginning.
