Cromartie High School, as you might expect, given its plot built almost completely on the foundation of random wackiness, skips around the manga quite a bit. Even in the very first episode, it had already skipped past a number of chapters that it would never return to.

The thing about the Cromartie High School manga is that a number of chapters simply would not have transferred well to being animated, but a lot of jokes work even better in animated form – and the manga often chose chapters with jokes that would work better in an anime.
