It is my opinion that all music manga simply begs for an anime, as you can only really fully experience the story with living sound. However, Blue Giant was a series were you could really imagine the sound generated by how passionate its characters were in the panels. Even if sometimes my brain was playing sexy saxophone man music.
Unfortunately, Blue Giant’s introduction to the world as an anime was perhaps not as smooth as manga fans may have liked, despite still being pretty good.

Where To Start The Blue Giant Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Blue Giant movie and want to continue the story with the manga, you can start at Chapter 1.
The Blue Giant movie starts in the the middle of the manga, at Volume 4, Chapter 30. It then adapts to Volume 10, Chapter 80, which is the end of the manga.
So while the Blue Giant movie is a full adaptation of the manga in that it showed you the ending, it did skip a large part of the story. Of course, there are some very valid opinions that the movie just skipped to “where the story got good” in the manga, which is fair.
If you are unconcerned with reading the first 29 chapters of the manga that were skipped, then you can instead start the sequel manga series, Blue Giant Supreme, at Chapter 1.
Is The Blue Giant Manga Over?
The Blue Giant manga is complete. It ended in 2016 with Volume 10, Chapter 80.
Blue Giant does, however, have quite a few sequel manga series.
- Blue Giant Supreme is complete. It ended in 2020 with Volume 11, Chapter 88.
- Blue Giant Explorer, a sequel to Supreme, ended in 2023 with Volume 9, Chapter 72.
- Blue Giant Momentum, a sequel to Explorer, is still ongoing.
Will There Be A Blue Giant TV Anime?
The Blue Giant movie celebrated a decent amount of success. However, while they may make another Blue Giant anime product, it is just as likely to remain a series of only movies. Anime movies in Japan tend to make quite a bit of money for far less investiture than a TV series.
