Where Does The Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master Anime End In The Light Novel?

There are a lot of unique and richly built worlds that have appeared in anime, and typically they get 12 episodes and only one season. I suppose the Yatagarasu novels must be much beloved to get 20 episodes of effort on the first go – and I can see why it would be much beloved.

Unique in its world building and drip-feeding you details throughout, Yatagarasu was a unique fantasy series and a must for those who revel in courtly intrigues.

Where To Start The Yatagarasu Light Novel After The Anime?

If you finished the Yatagarasu anime and wish to continue the story in the light novel, you can start at Novel 4, The Raven’s Empty Coffin (Kūkan no Karasu).

Is The Yatagarasu Light Novel Over?

The Yatagarasu novels are still ongoing.

The “First Part” of the novels ended in 2017 with Novel 6.
The “Second Part” of the Yatagarasu novels is still ongoing. Since launching in 2020, it usually releases a single novel per year.

Where To Start The Yatagarasu Manga After The Anime?

While Yatagarasu has two manga series, neither surpasses the anime. They are adapting the novels which they are named after, and both those novels were adapted in full in the anime.

The manga series include:

• A Raven For All Seasons (Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai) (Complete, 39 Chapters) – About the four princesses vying for marriage with Wakamiya.
• The Raven Does Not Choose the Lord (Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai) (Ongoing) – About the intrigue/coup attempt between Wakamiya and Natsuka.

The next novel, The Golden Raven (Kin no Karasu) about the sagecap and the monkeys, has no manga adaptation yet.

Do note that the manga has character designs are a little different from the anime, so some character may not look like you expect them to.

What to Expect From The Yatagarasu Source Material Compared to The Anime?

In the Yatagarasu, there are three distinct arcs – the court intrigue between Wakamiya and Natsuka/coup attempt, the intrigue between the four princess, and the sagecap drug stuff. Each of those stories comprise an individual novel in the Yatagarasu novel series, but the anime weaves the Wakamiya/Natsuka and the four princesses stories together more closely.

That aside, the Yatagarasu novels obviously go much deeper into this lore-rich fictional world they created. However, nothing that was skipped will prevent you from reading on, though reading from the beginning will give you a much firmer grasp on the world.

Will There Be A Yatagarasu Season 2?

There has been no announcement of a Yatagarasu Season 2 anime.

This series is lore-dense and interestingly built. It got a longer adaptation than most these days, and I hope it makes enough money so they will make more!
