Where Does The Master Keaton Anime End In The Manga?

Like a mix of Indiana Jones and MacGuyver, Master Keaton was a series that took fans on a globe-trotting adventure where you could never be quite sure what each new chapter would bring – other than a good story to enjoy.

However, Master Keaton is also a series that is rapidly being lost to age.

Where To Start The Master Keaton Manga After The Anime?

The short answer as to where to start the Master Keaton manga after the anime is Chapter 1, from the beginning.

Master Keaton, both the anime and manga, is an episodic series. So there is no real linear plot, just a “new chapter/episode, new adventure” type of affair with some very small exceptions where two chapters were combined into one episode. This means that where to start the manga after the anime is a bit difficult.

The first episode is indeed the first chapter of the manga, adapted well. However, the second and third episodes are from volume 3 and the fourth episode is from volume 15, so the anime makes some jumps.

Across the 39 episodes (24 from the anime series and a 15-episode OVA), the Master Keaton anime adapts 42 chapters of the 144 total chapters in there series, plucking the stories it wanted to adapt from all over the manga.

Is The Master Keaton Manga Over?

The Master Keaton manga is complete. It ended in 1994 with Chapter 144.

The original manga has a single volume sequel manga called Master Keaton Remaster that is set 20 years after the original series.

You can also enjoy the single-volume spin-off, Master Keaton’s Zoology, which is about Keaton at a zoo.

Will There Be A Master Keaton Season 2?

While Pluto may have revived some interest in Urasawa’s works (the author of Master Keaton), I don’t think Master Keaton is going to get much of that run-off. Maybe a Master Keaton revival could be in the cards, but I think any adaptation goodwill the Pluto anime earned had would be directed at a 20th Century Boys anime adaptation.
