We went from having virtually no golf anime to having a whole bunch premiering all at the same time. I guess all the other sports have been done to death. That said, while Hey Tonbo isn’t Birdie Golf-level ridiculous, it does capture the core sports anime appeal with its endearing characters.

What to Expect From The Hey! Tonbo Manga?
Tonbo adapts a lot of chapters, but the manga also tends to linger on the actions of playing golf, which can be adapted faster in anime. This made Tonbo seem like it was, occasionally, more talking than actually playing golf. Though, that is more so because they are in the beginning of what is a very long story.
The Tonbo anime adaptation did leave out a few things, but there is no reason you need to read the manga from the beginning unless you want to.
Is The Hey! Tonbo Manga Over?
The Hey! Tonbo manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 2014, it usually releases five volumes per year.
The Tonbo manga is also unique in that it is not published in a proper manga publication, but instead runs in issues of Golf Digest.
